It’s a Monday, so I randomly recommend:
The Night Circus
Happy Monday! Believe it or not, I actually like Mondays. It’s the one day of the week when I’m at peak performance – getting up on time, actually blow drying my hair, making a to do list and getting a lot of satisfaction from crossing things off. Mondays are great, then Tuesdays are a little less great, Wednesdays even less so and then Friday hits and I’m crabby, greasy-haired mess. So here’s to Mondays, they get a bad wrap in my opinion.
In the spirit of my good mood I’m going to recommend something fun:
This came out in 2012 and was, rightfully, nominated for a bunch of awards. But if you missed it, it’s definitely not too late to pick this gem up. It’s a delight of a book about the protégés of dueling magicians and the beautiful exhibits they create to decide the winner of a centuries-long feud. This is one of those books where it’s midnight and you’ve been reading for hours, and you know you really need to sleep because you have dumb old work in the morning, so you figure just one more chapter and then you look up and it’s two am, and you tell yourself that seriously, this is the last chapter, but we both know you’re lying to yourself.
